Bold Hilaire is a Brooklyn-based burlesque and drag multimedia performance artist. Hailing from the Windy City, she is the artist formerly known as Ms. Bea Haven, The Great Chicago Fire and is the founder of Girlie-Q Productions, a non-profit arts-focused performance company.
Since 2001, Bold has been known for creating performances and shows that defy gender stereotypes, subvert the beauty paradigm and make you *think*. Her work offers a keen curatorial eye, high production values, an obsession pop culture and queer camp sensibilities alongside excellent comedic timing. Her work offers the audience delightful surprises and input for their thinking caps. Her company, Girlie-Q Productions, was one of Chicago's first (and to date, the only queer) burlesque and variety troupes she has taught burlesque and performance in Chicago and beyond. Professionally, she has curated hundreds of performances, benefit events, festivals and multimedia events around the country.
As her performance character Ms. Bea Haven and as an independent performance artist, Bold/Beau (Bea for short) has performed in venues around the country, including the Stonewall Inn, WOW Cafe and the Slipper Room in NYC; Mary's Attic, HotHouse, Abbey Pub and the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago; Eyedrum Gallery in Atlanta, the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, and others too numerous to list. Festivals include The Dirty Show (Detroit), The Performing Arts Chicago/Edge Festival, The Rhinoceros Festival, Naked July, Mondo Homo (Atlanta), Tic-Toc Performance Festival, Ladyfest Midwest Chicago, and Ladyfest Philly. She has performed in shows produced by Gurlesque Burlesque, Girlie-Q, Varietease Cabaret, Queerpocalypse, the Chicago Starlets, Vaudezilla, Boxers Off! (Butch Burlesque), Viva Valezz and the Velvet Hearts and many more.
